Multi-Technology Renewable Energy System
Following a presentation at EcoBuild by an associate we were approached to conduct a feasibility study for a new eco-house.The brief was deceptively simple – carbon neutral.
Once the initial feasibility study was complete the full detail of the requirement became clear: Onsite generation form solar PV, wind and hydro. Hot water and space heating from an air source heat pump, no export of electricity, and the ability to run indefinitely off-grid in the event of a power failure.
Next followed the design stage matching the predicted demand with the on-site generation.
The 5 bedroom house was built to code level 5 standard but the large outdoor swimming pool impacts the overall energy efficiency of the project.
Once the design work was completed we were retained to oversea the complete the implementation of the renewable energy technologies and the integration with the main house systems including the swimming pool and home automation system.
“When we decided to build our low carbon house we wanted to be as carbon neutral as possible. To achieve this we engaged a specialist renewable energy consultancy to work with our architects. Anient took the initial requirements for a low carbon energy source for our house from feasibility study through design to finished implementation.”
